A message from the 2023-2024 President:
Hello local SPE members,
In Northeast Ohio, we believe in recycling and actively practice it. I was the Akron Section President in 2013-14. Like many other members of the board, I am serving a second term; many of the past presidents have recycled twice or more. Thank you, Joe, for serving a fourth term in 2022-23.
In September, we start off our program this year with a presentation on how US manufacturing is being recycled: “Global Economic Factors Now Favor U.S. Plastic Product Manufacturing over China-Based Operations”. Vinyltec also returns to Akron this October. We have a tentative program for the year, thanks to the efforts of our members, the Cleveland Section and ACESS (details and link on page 6).
This past year, we successfully made a return from COVID to a full and active program. But recovery is not enough. We now need your participation and input to develop a vision for the future: new ideas, new leadership, new communication and outreach to a new generation of professionals.
Recycling is sometimes thought of as reusing “old” materials. As it applies to me, I reject the adjective “old”! Please participate with the board and me in building the future of the Akron Section this year.
